We’re still not past the systematic racial challenges and discriminatory culture of the advertising ecosystem. How do we sustain productive discourse and design a safer workplace and culture beyond “black tile tuesday”?
Allyship & Action summits are a source of information on allyship and providing tangible next steps on anti-racism in ad land for all. We don’t want anyone on the sidelines during this moment and in the future. We’ll have workshops and talks designed for scalable and sustainable action.
We’ll connect allies to Black creatives and other allies to learn and continue the conversation. We’re a community first and an industry second. Now let’s connect for TRUE allyship.

During this session, we're going to 1) give you a new, PRACTICAL way for every person in attendance to safely and easily speak up and have immediate input/impact in their organizations, 2) call out the fluff and talk-without-action distractions that are hurting both organizations and individuals, and 3) paint the vision of what the very-near-future can and will look like when an employee-owned reporting platform becomes the norm.

Many brands ask where their consumers are, but they never ask where they are as a brand first. How you connect the work is what makes something extraordinary; the magic is in the method. Check the Fit is the process of finding what's true about the brand, what's true about the consumer, and telling the story in the throughline. By asking the right questions, making the right connections, and building the right teams - internally and externally - brands can form true partnerships that will last beyond specific campaigns or projects, becoming a part of the brand's true story.

If you are in a position to search for diverse talent, you’ve likely run into a dead end somewhere along the way. Whether it’s the overwhelming absence of initiatives to increase diversity talent pools, or not getting the necessary support from within the hiring organizations– especially if the diversity quota has been met for the year – there are barriers to entry for these candidates in every direction. This workshop will help us work together to break down the barriers and unlearn the behaviors and biases that have conditioned our decision making so we can intentionally bring talented, diverse candidates in the door and invest in their growth. No buts. No more celebrating minimal quotas. #HumansOverNumbers Hosted and moderated by Jen Hays, President of The Broad Exchange – Allyship & Action’s official non-profit partner, Participants: Hillary Black, MSW, She/Her/Hers: Co-Founder and Executive Coach with PerQ / at Kay & Black Talent Management / Founding Partner at AIR Emily (Hunt) Elyshevitz, She/Her/Hers: Creative Management at Ogilvy & Mather/ Owner/Coach of Tejasa Wellness/ Founding Member at AIR

We use stereotypes all the time when representing people in our content. They help us get our audience to understand our characters and our brand in an instant. This can be really effective, but when dealing with multiple diverse communities, how do you know which stereotypes are good, which are bad and which are just downright offensive? With society moving forward so fast, how do we keep up with ever changing stereotypes and stop our brands from ever offending the very people we want to impress.
